Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Business or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Master's Degree or CPA preferred. 9 years progressive experience in preparation of financial statements, inventory and cost processes, and analyzing and reporting fin trends/variances. Public Accounting experience may satisfy experience requirement.

Position Purpose:

Establish organizational policies and procedures for the Product Support Accounting group. Manage an accounting team who oversee processes that include global inventory valuation and reporting, costing methods, preparation of business unit (site) financial statements and related analysis, and cost and inventory accounting processes and procedures. Responsible for the strategic planning and management of the Product Support Accounting group. Review progress and evaluates results. Function with appreciable latitude and handles all decisions with integrity. Work collaboratively across departmental functions and with minimal direction.
Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Provide key leadership to the Product Support Accounting group, and be committed to building and maintaining strong partnerships with Product Support Operations management and business unit (site) finance personnel.
  2. Effectively lead strategic projects impacting the processes, procedures, systems, and personnel of the Financial Reporting group by focusing on a vision, making decisions, motivating employees, and producing desired results.
  3. Review and analyze monthly financial reports to assure accurate financial information is reported to internal customers and management.
  4. Responsible for revenue recognition, inventory valuation and reporting, and the preparation of business unit financial statements and related analysis.
  5. Manage accounting procedures and performance as it relates to monthly closing of Company books to assure an accurate and timely closing in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and General Dynamics Corporate policies and procedures.
  6. Make appropriate recommendations to enhance cost reduction, system capabilities and overall process flow.
  7. Provide value-added analysis of financial data on an ad hoc and periodic basis to support senior financial management as well as General Dynamics Corporate Accounting. .
  8. Responsible for overall work environment of Product Support Accounting group. Through personal leadership and management, create a positive work place that promotes employee success, satisfaction, and professional development.
  9. Strategically plan and assign accounting personnel tasks and procedures required. to meet the company and accounting department goals and measure results. Accountable for personnel management including employment, termination, performance evaluation, and compensation of personnel in respective area. Provide subordinates with proper training and guidance to help them develop professionally. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Proficient in the use of computer applications, principally Excel is required. Strong technology expertise in other applications is a plus.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously, leveraging resources with a focus on meeting schedule and results.
  3. Support corporate requirement by having the ability to schedule activities in a flexible environment with firm deadlines and maintain a professional attitude and work ethic.
  4. Coordinate and effectively communicate with team members, senior management, throughout the organization and all levels as required.
