Maintenance Planner Supervisor

Position Summary:
As Maintenance Planner Supervisor for our manufacturing client in Savannah, GA, you will direct staff, provide the environment and work place challenges to motivate personnel, and communicate effectively with plant personnel in planning and scheduling maintenance.

The Planner Supervisor reports to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager and functions under general management direction and policies. Maintenance Planners/Schedulers report directly to the Planner Supervisor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct Maintenance Planners and Scheduler(s) to ensure that maintenance is c in a proactive, cost-effective manner.
  • Develop department budgets and tactical plans to meet company's objectives. Approve department purchases up to the established authorization level. Provide information to Maintenance for use in budget preparation.
  • Maintain and foster positive labor relations and communications both within Maintenance Planning and among the plant's various departments
  • Ensure that each department understands the Maintenance Planning function and maintain a high level of cooperation and respect.
  • Monitor and improve department processes and procedures to reduce or eliminate safety hazards and risks with a goal of achieving a "zero lost time" safety record.
  • Review prepared work packages and schedules to ensure that no work is scheduled before all preparations have been made, and that schedules accurately reflect work that has been agreed to by all interested parties.
  • Ensure development of a Job Plan Library for repetitive tasks to improve planner efficiency.
  • Periodically audit planned work orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct a weekly review of Work Management KPI's for trends.
  • Work to continuously improve the skill level of all subordinates. Provide training and development of all subordinates. Annually conduct a training needs assessment of the Planning group.
  • Maintain and enhance computerized equipment histories, maintenance cost records, budget systems, equipment PMs and lube schedules, equipment spare parts inventory, warehouse inventory, and other information related to maintenance control.
  • Develop and conduct demonstrations of company philosophies and computer systems for Maintenance, Production personnel and visitors.
  • Attend all meetings associated and relating to the Planning Department.
  • Provide a review of the department's activities on a period basis to leadership.
  • Review and approve all Planning personnel vacation, travel and expense reports.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Mechanical or electrical background with technical school experience preferred
  • At least 3-5 years' experience as a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler
  • Excellent communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills, administrative skills, human relation skills
