Job Summary

The Assistant Director, under the supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions Recruitment, oversees freshman recruitment efforts. Responsibilities include managing expectations of a Coordinator and Freshman Admissions Counselors, periodic travel for presentations, college fairs, and special events, gathering and interpreting data for strategic admissions efforts, providing leadership within the office, coordinating admissions scholarship process, and assisting with programming. Regular travel to Savannah Campus is required, with some opportunity for remote work. The Assistant Director consistently upholds the values of service, collaboration, and excellence advocated by the Division of Enrollment, Marketing, and Student Success.

Responsibilities
  • Represent the Georgia Southern experience to high school students, teachers, school counselors, and parents at various on and off campus events
  • Implement plans for proactive follow up with students at every stage of the admissions funnel (prospects, inquiries, applicants, admits, SOAR)
  • Work with the campus partners to ensure the Admissions Coordinators and Counselors have a general understanding of the processes and information for other departments around campus
  • Manage an assigned territory, including communicating with students, families, and counselors and traveling to visit schools and events as needed within the territory
  • Conduct undergraduate admissions campus information sessions and tours as needed
  • Actively respond to the needs of school counselors when they request materials or request visits to their schools
  • Oversee counselors in their recruitment planning process and their plans to achieve assigned territory goals
  • Develop and implement yield activities to involve faculty, staff and alumni in order to convince admitted students to enroll at Georgia Southern University
  • Track, report and respond to data on undergraduate admissions numbers on a weekly basis to support strategies to achieve overall freshman enrollment goals
  • Provide training and support for new and existing team members on recruitment initiatives, such as freshman requirements and policies and procedures as well as data tools and reporting (i.e. Pyramid and Business Objects)
  • Supervise multiple full-time staff members


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
  • Four (4) or more years of related work experience
  • Experience recruiting undergraduate students to a college or university


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree

Preferred Experience
  • Six (6) or more years or related work experience
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising full-time employees


Proposed Salary

$44,400 - $56,500

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
