WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Production Manager will report directly to the Senior Operations Manager. As the Production Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and managing the day-to-day operation of both CNC and manual machine shops. This role will be the front-line supervisor within production who will execute the Sr. Operations Manager's Production Plan, be a proactive problem solver, be a machinist operations technical leader, and collaborate with quality and engineering to result production requirements. Foreman will work with our integrated production leadership team in overseeing work to anticipate, detect and address factors that may impede operations. This position will require the following broad range of responsibilities to ensure success:

  • Review daily production plans with Senior Operations Manager, Program Management, Quality, Engineering and Procurement personnel.
  • Supervise 25+ machinists across the CNC and manual departments.
  • Assign machinists their job(s) and assist them with any technical issues.
  • Delegates manufacturing tasks so the team can meet production deadlines.
  • Establishes job priorities IAW Production Plan to ensure manufacturing team works most efficiently.
  • Organizes and monitors workflow on the machining production floor.
  • Manage the internal and external routing for each job to meet on time delivery requirements.
  • Manage the incoming stock and tooling by organizing them based on requirements for each job.
  • Communicates expectations to production workers and appraises their performance.
  • Addresses production problems as they arise; follow escalation procedures.
  • Reports on team performance to Senior Operations Manager.
  • Makes recommendations on ways to improve employee efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Implements recommended manufacturing cost reduction strategies.
  • Communications and cooperation within production and other departments within manufacturing.
  • Ensures compliance with industry and legal regulations and best practices, and adherence to company processes and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures.
  • Collaborates with engineering, quality and procurement departments to proactively prevent or resolve issues.
  • Ensure machines are inspected and maintained in accordance with preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a safe working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Experience as both a supervisor and machinist in prior positions.
  • Experienced user of ERP systems and executing production plans.
  • Subject matter experience and knowledge of CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.
  • Proficient skills with typing, MS Office products or related software.
  • Team-player who can handle working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years directly related management and/or supervisory experience.
  • English fluency required in all forms of communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to improve machine shop business processes and practices to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ten (10) or more years of work experience in relevant industry with High School Diploma or GED.
  • US Citizenship required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:

  • General knowledge of other related disciplines including engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability for strong written comprehension and deductive reasoning
  • Knowledge of manufacturing standards, systems, processes, and procedures

This position is operated in a manufacturing type environment. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision while performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
