Job Summary
Support environmental compliance and Georgia Southern's commitment toward good management practices. Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
Respond to pickup requests of hazardous waste, universal waste, or biomedical waste and properly store/label containers in hazardous waste building
Perform environmental compliance inspections and maintain accurate records. Assist with data collection and environmental reports
Maintain compliance with annual training certifications including Hazwoper, RCRA, and DOT. Pursue additional professional development opportunities as relevant
Respond to incidents, customer requests, emergencies and site clean-ups
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
One (1) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Successful forty hour (40) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Associate's Degree from accredited college in Environmental Sciences or related field
Preferred Experience
Three (3) or more years of relevant experience
Experience in higher education, research laboratories, environmental consultation, or comparable institutional environment
Proposed Salary
$14.86 - $18.17 per hour
This is an non-exempt position paid on a bi-weekly basis.

SKILLS
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
