JOB SUMMARY
Exercises responsibility and authority for managing and planning the operations of the environmental, safety, health, fire prevention and protection functions on domestic construction projects in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Ensures that the Safety Department provides the requisite assistance in support of profit centers and other company related projects.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manages and directs all corporate and project EHS Department functions on projects or operating facilities.
Plans EHS Department activities for operations on a short and long term basis taking into consideration company objectives, client requirements division/project needs, current and proposed safety and health regulations and maintenance industry safety developments and practices.
Represents McKenney’s, Inc. in meetings with clients, governmental agencies, contractors, insurance companies and labor union representatives to resolve immediate safety issues or to formulate policies, procedures or programs to further improve safety programming.
Reviews all federal/state safety and health regulations and procedures.
Maintains knowledge of current enforcement policies and adjudication's.
Formulates corporate safety policies, programs and procedures to achieve compliance in the most cost-effective manner.
Develops the budget for approval by McKenney’s, Inc. President.
Develops and manages EHS Department personnel training and development programs to meet the department's staffing requirements.
Conducts these sessions for the Regional Safety Managers.
Directs the preparation of reports and proposals for presentation to potential clients.
Consults with legal Department Representatives on litigation arising from governmental environmental, safety and health compliance activities.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of and experience in managing, planning and directing EHS Department functions in Construction/Maintenance operating plant environments.
Proficiency in the interpretation and application of environmental, safety and health standards to Construction/Maintenance projects and operating facilities.
Working knowledge of the physical and social sciences.
Working knowledge of the principles of measurement and analysis.
Proficiency in Construction/Maintenance safe work practices.
Knowledge of McKenney’s, Inc. organizational structure, policies and procedures.
Skills in written and verbal communication.
Knowledge of legal policies and procedures with respect to environmental, safety and health issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED

Must be a self-starter, with ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

5-7 years of experience in a corporate-wide safety leadership role in construction or manufacturing environment.

Must be trainer qualified in numerous safety topics.

Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals

Ability to maintain painstaking attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks.

Able to demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals or deadlines.

Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.

Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software

High school diploma or GED

Must be able to walk and climb facilities under construction in all weather conditions
PREFERRED

Ten or more years of experience in a corporate-wide safety leadership role in construction or manufacturing environment.

4 year degree in Safety or related field
CSP, ASP or other safety related designation
